Home Movie Transfer

Remember the days when Dad would go down to the basement and lug up the old movie projector and set up the screen? A half an hour later he would gather everybody around and start up the first reel and you would laugh and cry at the different events that were being played back. Then the 3 minutes were up and you waited 5 minutes for the reel to rewind and the next reel to get loaded into the projector. After about and hour, you have viewed about 18 minutes of your life, consumed 3 buckets of popcorn, Mom is yelling at Dad to hurry up, Dad is frustrated with the projector that “used to work much better”, the grandkids have wandered off and Aunt Millie is lost in La-La Land. Are we having fun yet? Not so much.

Over the years, those reels of film have been relegated to the closet shelf, a box in the garage or tossed into the attic. The projector has seen its better days and the bulb burned out long ago. We use professional projectors designed specifically for film transfer and high quality video equipment to provide a Home Movie Transfer that is second to none. Don’t be fooled by those who capture the video from a screen or through mirrors—these systems often cannot take out the “flickering” caused by most projectors. Your Home Movies will be treated with the utmost attention to detail. While the film is being transferred, we correct for problems with the film such as “jumping” due to torn or ripped sprocket holes, imperfections with lighting and remove blank or hard to see footage. We then add some instrumental music into the background and your Home Movie masterpiece is complete!

Home Movie Transfer Pricing and Information

There are a few important things to know when you are transferring your film to video at Lansing Video Productions:

  1. All of your original film reels will be returned to you after the transfer is complete.
  2. We transfer the film to VHS using only the highest quality T-120 professional grade videotape. We use this master VHS to transfer the film footage to DVD.
  3. We CAN transfer movie film that is in self contained cartridges. There is an additional charge of $2.50 for each reel. The cartridges will be broken open and discarded. The film will then be placed onto a standard reel which will be returned to you after the transfer.
  4. You can return the videotape and have additional footage placed onto the end if the tape allows.
8mm or 16mm Film $.10 per foot includes Master VHS
$.13 per foot includes Master VHS and DVD
Titles 1 title is included at the beginning.
Additional titles will be $5.oo per title.
Music Easy listening music is provided with the transfer.
Custom music can be added for a charge of $25.00.
